Bill Bourne
Bill Bourne and his music have been an Alberta folk music standard for a very long time. Bill has been creating and playing fine music for well past 30 years, and his many incarnations and collaborations with other great musicians keeps Bill’s contribution to Alberta’s folk music scene vibrant and fresh. Bill’s music has moved through delta blues, Celtic, country and folk, and many of his tunes have stood the test of time and are still relevant long after they were written. Some of his works are really quite poignant. He is a veteran of many a folk festival, including the Edmonton Folk Music Festival and our beloved regional icon, the North Country Fair. When you hear Bill’s playing and singing, you’ll recognize that voice and that musical style right away. And for those of you not familiar with Bill’s work and what he has to offer, take a chance and come out to see a truly fine singer/songwriter at work, and he’s an Alberta boy, too.
Bill is coming to share his music and songs with us on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. on the Don Weaver Stage at the Athabasca Hall. Come out on a January evening and discover, or just get re-acquainted with an Alberta folk music icon. You won’t regret an evening with Bill Bourne. It will pick up your winter just fine.
Tickets for Bill Bourne are available in advance at Style Ryte Cleaners in Peace River or at the door for the thrifty sum of $25. Don’t miss out! Go to www.bilbourne.com for some more in-depth information on this fine Alberta musician and what he’s been up to lately.
Quartette
Quartette is arguably one of the finest groups of talented and seasoned female singer/songwriters in Canada. The group came to life musically as a collaboration of friends for a concert in Toronto back in 1994. Since that time, they have recorded six albums and sung at countless concerts across the country, and to our great delight they have agreed to come and share their musical and voice magic with our community. They have received several Juno nominations and won a Canadian Country Music Award for best vocal collaboration. Wait until you hear the sweet harmonies and vocal arrangements of songs that span influences from blues and gospel, to folk, to country, jazz and pop. This is an evening you will definitely want to bring a friend to just to share in the experience you’ll receive.
The members of Quartette are Caitlin Hanford, Cindy Church, Gwen Swick and Sylvia Tyson. They will spin a fine evening’s worth of entertainment for you. All you have to do is simply show up; they’ll be here in our own little town. Quartette steps on to the Don Weaver Stage at the Athabasca Hall in Peace River on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. Hurry and get your tickets as soon as they are available at Style Ryte Clears in Peace River in advance or at the door for only $25. Think of it! You don’t have to drive far or spend the night to come see a world class act in our fine rustic theatre.
